I would like to start off by talking about the rhythm of my track. My tempo is 80 BPM and I’m using 4/4 meter. When it came to my drums, my percussion was doing most of the talking, producing a melody of its own. I wanted that to accompany my melody track in a way as if they were taking a walk in the park. My kick was placed in a unique path as well to give the bass a nice rhythm to go along with.

It took me a long time to develop the type of bass rhythm that I wanted to use. I finally made my decision, and it was because it flowed with the beat the most to me. It also gave the kick the punch that it needed to give it a heavier sound. I believe that my bassline goes hand and hand with my melody and harmony tracks.

My harmony, too me felt like it gave it structure. My chord selection was Db major (Db), Bb minor (Bm), Gb Major (Gb), and Ab Major (Ab) for the first 16 bars. For my second 16 bars I decided to do Eb minor (Ebm), Db Major (Db), and Ab Major (Ab), I selected this progression because I knew that it would give me the freedom to voice my melody.

My melody was inspired from most Disney movies I grew up on. Anytime I hear a polytonic tune, it always seems to lighten my mood. Especially if the right sound is with it. I went with a falling melody and later did a short rise and the end. On my second 16 bars I decided to do a falling melody starting at the 2.

For my dynamic processors, I used a noise gate on track 11 mainly because you would hear my kids in the background. I also placed a reverb on that track to make it fuller. On track 6, I placed an EQ on it to give the bass a deeper feel. Track 4 has a delay effect to it to make the percussions sound like there is a lot more going on. After I mixed everything, I believe I created a descent track and I hope you all enjoy it as I did.
